Antonio Brown to return in 2019.Not that it matters to Brown. He’s already made up his mind.A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press the perennial Pro Bowler has formally asked the Steelers for a trade Justin Hunter Jersey , the latest move in a game of brinksmanship by the 30-year-old designed to force Pittsburgh to move him by the start of training camp this summer. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to publicly discuss personnel matters.Brown appeared to make his decision official in a social media post released on Instagram on Tuesday. The video includes highlights from Brown’s career with the Steelers while lyrics from “Do What I Want” by rapper Lil Uzi Vert plays in the background.“SteelerNation thank you for nine big years!!!” Brown wrote. “Time to move on and move forward.”The post came shortly after Brown was found guilty in absence on a charge of reckless driving in a suburban Pittsburgh court on Tuesday morning. Brown was charged in November for driving his black sports car over 100 mph in a 45 mph zone. He paid a $426.77 fine. Brown did not attend Tuesday’s hearing.Brown still has three years remaining on the $72 million contract he signed in the spring of 2017, and remains one of the most dynamic performers in the league. He is the only player in NFL history with six consecutive 100-catch seasons and he hauled in 104 receptions for 1,297 yards and a franchise-record 15 touchdowns in 2018.Still, Brown’s behavior became increasingly erratic last fall. The nadir came before Pittsburgh’s game against Cincinnati in Week 17. The team sent him home with an apparent leg injury on the Friday before the game and he failed to providecoach Mike Tomlin with an update until Sunday morning, when his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, let Tomlin know that Brown was available to play.Tomlin opted to make Brown inactive and Brown did not show up to clean out his locker or conduct an exit interview with the coaching staff. He pulled out of the Pro Bowl with an injury and team president Art Rooney II indicated the team had been unable to make contact with Brown in the weeks after Pittsburgh finished 9-6-1 and failed to reach the playoffs.Rooney Jon Bostic Jersey , however, stressed last month he did not plan to “disparage” Brown and did not close the door on Brown’s possible return. That still might be the case, whether Brown wants to come back or not. There is no major rush with another month before the new league year begins, though Pittsburgh could work out the parameters of a deal by March 13. Brown’s contract counts $21.12 million in 2019, a number that inches north to $23.62 if Brown receives a $2.5 million roster bonus he’s scheduled to receive on March 17.The number seems daunting, but for once the Steelers are not right up against the salary cap thanks in large part to running back Le’Veon Bell’s decision to sit out 2018 rather than sign his one-year franchise tender. The $14.4 million Bell forfeited will roll over into 2019, giving Pittsburgh some flexibility to absorb a loss if Brown plays elsewhere.Cutting Brown is almost certainly off the table Ryan Switzer Jersey , but what Brown could command on the trade market is uncertain. Pittsburgh received a third-round pick from Oakland last season for Martavis Bryant, who carried the weight of unmet expectations and a record that included multiple violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy.Brown doesn’t have that kind of baggage, though his behavior in recent months could give potential suitors pause. The list of his transgressions in recent months includes a pending civil lawsuit in Florida claiming he hurled objects from the 14th floor of an apartment building that landed near a toddler; threatening an ESPN reporter through social media ; and his 100 mph sprint through the northern Pittsburgh suburbs on Nov. 8.Several of Brown’s teammates, including second-year wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, talked openly at the Pro Bowl about Brown remaining with the team that took a flyer on him in the sixth-round of the 2010 draft and helped him evolve into one of the best receivers of his generation. Brown apparently wants no part of a reconciliation. Mike Tomlin, who is entering his 13th season with the Steelers, now is one of only three African-American head coaches in the league. Anthony Lynn and new Dolphins coach Brian Flores are the others.Since Dan Rooney — the namesake of the Rooney Rule — died two years ago this month Hines Ward Jersey , NFL teams have made 15 head coaching hires with Flores and Steve Wilks the only African-Americans. Wilks lasted only one season in Arizona.“I think the numbers speak for themselves in that regard,” Tomlin said, via Gerry Dulac of the . “It was a disappointing hiring cycle for someone who watches it like I do, knowing some of the deserving men I do who I thought should have gotten an opportunity and didn’t. But we’ll continue to work and fight for equality and opportunity.”The league adopted the Rooney Rule in 2003, requiring teams hiring head coaches to interview at least one minority candidate. In 2009, the NFL expanded it to include openings for General Manager positions.“I think that’s what the Rooney Rule speaks to, equality within the opportunity Isaiah Buggs Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey ,” Tomlin said. “We’ll continue to fight for that, not only in terms of head coaching searches, but maybe other areas of the profession as well. I know there’s some discussions in the offseason regarding some of that.”
A.J. Brown Bryce Love Washington Redskins Jersey , WRSchool: Ole Miss | Conference: SECCollege Experience: Junior | Age: 21Height / Weight: 6-0 / 226 lbsProjected Draft Status: Late 1st or 2nd RoundNFL Comparison: Quincy EnunwaCollege StatisticsPlayer OverviewA.J. Brown is the premier ‘big slot’ prospect in this draft. Brown has had a highly successful 3-year career at Ole Miss. His production was so good the last two seasons he was able to secure several spots in the school record books. He is first in career receiving yards (2,984), he is 3rd in catches (189), and 5th in touchdowns (19). Brown’s journey to Ole Miss was interesting to say the least. In 2016 he was a 4-star recruit and a native of Starkville, Mississippi (Mississippi State territory). Most thought he would commit to Mississippi State, others thought Alabama and Cal had a strong chance since Brown took visits to those schools. On National Signing Day Brown shocked a lot of people when he put on that Ole Miss cap. Turns out he made a good decision. Brown is likely to be in consideration for some teams as early as the late first round. The slot position certainly isn’t what it used to be and Brown has the skillset to win in the NFL and be that main guy working out of it. There are some concerns about his overall athleticism and how he approaches some nuances of the position but he is generally considered a high floor prospect. Brown was able to put up great numbers working with a sub par QB and two other great receiving talents at Ole Miss. I think everyone wants to know what he’s capable of in the NFL.StrengthsExcellent size Bryce Love Washington Redskins Jersey , good quickness, good athleticism and strength for the position.Brown runs good routes and can be really crisp on his cuts. That efficiency is good to see. When he comes back he is always ready for the ball and is a natural pass catcher. While he doesn’t have blazing speed he goes have good short area quickness and acceleration. This is part of what makes him so good in the slot and how he can create separation. His size comes in handy in this area as well and his strength and physicality helps him get yards after the catch. He has good body control and can contort his body and adjust to the ball as he’s tracking it. Made several impressive sideline and end zone catches in his career. Physical and competitive blocker.WeaknessesFluidity and athleticism are questioned when people mention moving him out of the slot. Some wonder if he has the burst and long speed to stretch the field while others worry he lacks the agility to avoid defenders in open space. There also have even been questions about his leaping ability and he doesn’t appear he can get much air which limits his high point ability.Worked a lot against off coverage related to the above there are questions about his initial footwork and selling ability if he’s pressed and not given a clean release. Ran a pretty simple route tree at Ole Miss, if teams do want to try him outside he’ll likely have to learn a few more patterns.Let’s see his work:More A.J. Brown videosHow He Would Fit On The RedskinsA.J. Brown is obviously one of the best receivers in this draft. I think his athleticism is just fine generally speaking but I can also see the concern criticisms people raise regarding that aspect of this game. You have to know what he is and play to his strengths. That is obviously his ability to create separation over the middle, his reliable hands, and his ability to pick up yards after the catch. For the Redskins, I wouldn’t be mad if they tried him outside but there is nothing wrong is a big go-to receiver in the slot. Brown would easily be the strongest and most balanced receiver have on the team and would represent an interesting transition at the position assuming Jamison Crowder leaves in FA. Brown would also be a nice security blanket for any QB who takes snaps under center next season. He won’t run a 4.3 but he understands angles and space and definitely can take short catches and make them big gains. I also think Brown would be a nice fit in the current timing based west coast offense the Redskins run. If you can hit him in stride rather than on an out or a comeback he can do a lot of damage. Brown is probably considered one of the safest picks in the draft at the position which is high praise for any wide receiver. He could easily become the Redskins #1 option working out of the slot. There’s a good reason Colt McCoy‘s on crutches. The Washington quarterback Bryce Love Jersey 2019 , who broke his fibula on Dec. 4 against the Eagles and threatened to play late in the season if the playoffs were on the line, will have a longer recovery.According to Tarik El-Bashir of , McCoy had another surgery on his right leg. He described it as “preventative maintenance” (a description most people put on things like haircuts rather than leg surgeries). While the timing of the procedure is unknown, he’s expected to be ready for offseason work.At the moment, their only healthy quarterback is Case Keenum, since Alex Smith is recovering from the badly broken leg which is expected to keep him out for the season Cheap Bryce Love Jersey , if not longer.McCoy created some concern when he showed up on crutches to give the “start your engines” call at yesterday’s IndyCar event in Austin, Texas..@TexasFootball fans know this guy well.Former @TexasLonghorns QB Colt McCoy gave the command to start engines at @COTA. pic.twitter.com/p6pPUJLeA2— IndyCar on NBC (@IndyCaronNBC) March 24, 2019
ASHBURN Landon Collins Jersey , Va. (AP) — has come out of a brief retirement to join the Washington Redskins. The team announced the signing of Rodgers-Cromartie on Friday. Rodgers-Cromartie was visiting the Redskins’ facility and gives them depth in the secondary.Rodgers-Cromartie, 32, announced his retirement in October after playing seven games with the Oakland Raiders. At the time, he posted on Instagram that his NFL journey had ended. It’s back on with the Redskins, who signed safety Landon Collins earlier in the week to an $84 million, six-year contract, and lost Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to Chicago. Rodgers-Cromartie,former teammate of Collins with the Giants, gives Washington a versatile veteran who could be in the mix at cornerback with Josh Norman, Quinton Dunbar and Fabian Moreau or see time at safety with Collins and special-teamer Deshazor Everett. GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida has hired Torrian Gray as its cornerbacks coach Trent Williams Jersey , bringing him back to Gainesville to replace Charlton Warren.Warren left the Gators to take a similar position at rival Georgia.Gray, who has 19 years of coaching experience, worked at Florida during the 2016 season. He spent the last two years with the NFL’s Washington Redskins before being fired in January.Gray has helped developed a number of NFL defensive backs at the collegiate level, including former Florida standouts Duke Dawson, Marcus Maye, Jalen Tabor and Quincy Wilson. He also worked with Brandon Flowers, Kam Chancellor, Kyle Fuller and Kendall Fuller at Virginia Tech.Gray has familiarity with Florida’s defense, having played for current Gators coordinator Todd Grantham for four seasons with the Hokies.Coach Dan Mullen says Gray “brings a high level of familiarity with our program and the Southeastern Conference.”Mullen still has to replace defensive line coach Sal Sunseri, who left to join Alabama’s staff.

MSTShareTweetShareShareBroncos will not exercise contract option for Brandon MarshallMark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsAccording to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Denver Broncos have notified linebacker Brandon Marshall that they will not be exercising his contract option for 2019. The move will make Marshall a free agent in March. The move will free up $5M in salary cap for the Broncos, but also a $4M dead money hit. Marshall, 29, came to the Broncos in 2013 from the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad and became a full-time starter in 2014. He was an integral part of that 2015 defensive unit that catapulted the franchise to their third Super Bowl title. While he was open to a contract restructuring that would keep him in Denver, the Broncos under Vic Fangio decided to go in another direction. As a free agent, Marshall is ready to focus on the future. The team told him that he has been a great Bronco, to which Marshall released a statement of appreciation for his time there.“I love the organization Phillip Lindsay Jersey White , they gave me my first chance to play,” Marshall said. “I love all my teammates. ALAMEDA https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , Calif. (AP) — the Oakland Raiders have now turned to upgrading their struggling defense. The Raiders agreed to a four-year contract with versatile free-agent safety Lamarcus Joyner, a person familiar with the deal said Tuesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the move can’t be finalized until the new league year starts Wednesday. The move to bring in Joyner comes after the Raiders agreed to a trade with Pittsburgh for prolific receiver Antonio Brown and agreed on the richest contract ever for an offensive lineman with a deal to add tackle Trent Brown.Oakland will give Antonio Brown a new three-year contract worth $50.125 million and Trent Brown will get a deal worth $66 million over four years, according to a person familiar with those moves who spoke on condition of anonymity because they hadn’t been announced. ESPN reported Joyner’s deal will be worth about $42 million as the Raiders are spending liberally after going 4-12 in coach Jon Gruden’s first season back on the sideline.Joyner now will help upgrade a defense that ranked last in the league in yards allowed per play (6.27) and points allowed per game (29.2) last season.Joyner played this past season on the franchise tag for the Rams, earning $11.3 million. But Los Angeles went in another direction, signing former Baltimore safety Eric Weddle last week to be Joyner’s replacement. The 28-year-old Joyner was originally a second-round pick by the Rams in 2014 and played 67 games over five seasons with the franchise. He has four interceptions and 25 passes defensed in his career. The Raiders coveted Joyner for his versatility; he has experience playing cornerback Derek Carr Jersey White , in the slot and safety. But he was at his best after moving exclusively to free safety the past two seasons under coordinator Wade Phillips.Joyner will provide a needed boost to Oakland’s secondary and will be expected to start alongside Karl Joseph with recently re-signed Erik Harris providing depth for coordinator Paul Guenther. Marcus Gilchrist and Reggie Nelson are free agents and are not expected to return.Joyner and Joseph are small in stature, with Joyner listed at 5-foot-8 and Joseph just two inches taller. That could cause problems matching up against bigger tight ends like Kansas City’s Travis Kelce. With Marcell Ateman added to the active roster last week, the Raiders had a wide receiver spot open on the practice squad. Monday they filled that spot with the addition of free agent WR Anthony Ratliff-Williams.The 6-1, 250-pound Ratliff-Williams is an undrafted rookie receiver out of North Carolina. He came to the Tarheels as a quarterback but switched to receiver after his freshman year. Over his final two seasons 1319 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. The Raiders also changed out their practice squad running back, releasing Damarea Crockett and bringing back James Butler for his fourth stint with the team.Butler was signed during the 2018 offseason and spent time on the team’s practice squad. He was brought back in January on a reserve/futures contract, cut in April Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , then re-signed early in camp. He was among the final roster cuts and wasn’t re-signed to the practice squad. Well, not until today. After being cut by the Raiders last April, Butler signed on with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. He played college ball at Nevada and Iowa.Follow @LeviDamien
This year's version of the Pittsburgh Steelers is a hot mess — from the highest level of the franchise on down. Yes I’m holding the Rooneys accountable for their part in this circus we’ve had the displeasure to witness through two weeks of the season. Notice I didn't use the word “team” because this group of individuals doesn't resemble a team in any way T. J. Watt Jersey White , form or function. An organization which prides itself for cultivating a family atmosphere around the facilities and locker room can only be described as a dysfunctional family at the moment. This current dilemma falls squarely at the feet of the owners, specifically Art Rooney Jr.Leadership has to start at the top, as per the old saying “the buck stops here.” Somebody has to be held accountable when the franchise is struggling with the same issues it did the previous season. Everybody has to answer to somebody, but who does the commander and chief answer to? I believe it must be to the fans, because without the fans, you have no business.Make no mistake about it, I’m not suggesting the Rooney family should start jumping through hoops every time a small segment of the fan base starts whining about something. But when the majority of your fan base screams in unison concerning troubling issues playing out right in front of their faces — both on and off of the field, on what seems like a daily basis — then it might be time to take notice. When the actions of certain players, and the inaction of the coaching staff, have turned the most successful franchise in league history into a running joke, it’s beyond time to get involved.I’ve proudly been a member of Steelers Nation for as long as I can remember. My loyalty came from the belief that the Steelers’ organization represented the core values of the community, devoted fans, and the Rooney family itself. They valued their integrity and acted accordingly. The legendary instances of this integrity are multiple — like the Rocky Bleier story, to mention only one — but I believe one instance that occurred not too long ago really stands out. The Steelers went decades searching for a franchise QB and finally found one in Ben Roethlisberger. He enjoyed instant success and quickly led them to three Super Bowls, winning two. But somewhere along the way, the young man lost his way and diverged from the Steelers’ core values. And guess what? The Steelers were fully prepared to move forward without Ben, even though he was never convicted of a crime. They were openly shopping him on draft night. I was both worried and somehow proud at the same time to be a Steelers fan. Proud not only because they wanted to win, but they also wanted to win the right way. Character matters, and they were going to demand it from their players. Ben has certainly turned his life around since those dark days, becoming a family man of faith. I’m convinced the tough love displayed by the Rooneys played a large role in that turnaround. Now the Steelers find themselves at another crossroads Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , and it might be time for more tough love. The Rooneys need to step up to the plate and make a plethora of difficult decisions necessary to rectify the present situation. For starters, this team (if you want to call it that) is totally undisciplined and chronically unprepared. That would seem to fall under the responsibilities of the head coach, and if he’s unwilling, or incapable, of dispensing the discipline and leadership required to steady the proverbial ship, then ownership needs to step in.Honestly, the team may not be as talented, especially on the defensive side of the ball, as many thought prior to the season, myself included. They sure didn't look like it on Sunday. The defense appeared over-matched by any skill-position player the Chiefs ran out there. The only good news in this situation is you can sometimes overcome talent deficiencies on defense with teamwork, communication, and effective schemes. But as presently constituted, that definitely isn't an option for this group. This might call for drastic action to be taken at the defensive coordinator position. The Bell situation, a quagmire of their own creation, is a constant distraction which negatively affects team chemistry, but their hands appear tied at the moment. There’s no way to know if Bell would work with the team on a sign-and-trade deal, or if another team would even be interested, but it doesn't sound like the Steelers are interested in that anyway. It’s one thing when your best players get out of hand and need a reality check, but now even career-underachievers like Bud Dupree are creating negative attention while offering next to nothing on the field. This team's performance on and off of the field is unacceptable. Steelers Nation deserves better, the coaching staff knows better Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , and the owners must demand better. It’s unclear whether the Steelers want to keep receiver Antonio Brown, and it’s unclear whether he wants to stay. His contract provides clarity as to a variety of issues that will be relevant to the decisions that will be made by the Steelers and/or Browns in the coming weeks. Here’s a look at specific aspects of Brown’s most recent contract that should be considered by the Steelers, by Brown, and by anyone trying to figure out what will happen next.1. The structure. Two years ago, the Steelers signed Brown to a four-year, $68 million extension. Consistent with the team’s refusal to guarantee money beyond the first year, the contract contained only $19 million in fully-guaranteed money, paid out in the form of a signing bonus.By not including fully-guaranteed payments beyond the first year, the Steelers sacrificed any leverage that would go along with having the ability to void future guarantees. Instead, the Steelers can recover only the unearned portion of Brown’s signing bonus ($11.4 million at this point), for limited circumstances such as retirement.2. The restructuring. The Steelers routinely convert large base salaries into guaranteed payments as a cap-management device. Entering the second year of Brown’s contract, the Steelers switched $12.96 million of Brown’s $13.875 million base salary into a guaranteed payment, spreading $3.24 million over each of the remaining four years. The Steelers can’t get any of that money back, but they’ll have to account for the remaining $9.72 million under the cap, whether he’s on the team or not.3. The roster bonus.Brown’s 2019 compensation package consists of a $12.625 million base salary and a roster bonus of $2.5 million. The roster bonus comes due on March 17. As a practical matter, that’s the deadline for making a decision on Brown for the coming season — unless they want to pay him $2.5 million for the privilege of making a decision later.4. The remaining value. If the Steelers choose to trade Brown, the contract is attractive. Beyond the $15.125 million he’s due to earn in 2019, Brown has a base salary of $11.3 million in 2020 and $12.5 million in 2021.That’s a total of $38.925 million for three years, an average of $12.975 million per year. And that’s a good deal for whoever gets Brown — so good that he may want a raise from his next team, if a trade happens.5. The cap hit.Due to the $19 million signing bonus paid in 2017 and $12.96 million restructuring bonus paid in 2018 Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , Brown has $21.12 million in paid but not allocated money. Which means that, if Brown is cut or traded before June 1, the Steelers will carry a $21.12 million cap charge for Brown in 2019.He also can be cut before June 1 with a post-June 1 designation. This would keep his salary on the books until June 1, at which time the cap hit would fall to $7.04 million this year, with the remaining $14.08 million hitting the cap in 2020. The same thing would happen if Brown is traded after June 1; however, the Steelers will have paid him $2.5 million, which would be added to his cap burden for 2019.6. The net cap gain (in theory). Some have shrugged at the potential cap consequences for cutting or trading Brown before June 1 because, if he’s on the team, his cap charge will be $22.165 million. In other words, moving him before June 1 actually results in a lower cap charge for 2019. Of course, the Steelers wouldn’t have him on the roster, which means they’d have to replace him within the confines of a total cap reduced by $21.12 million. Also, the “it will be cheaper under the cap to cut him” argument ignores the reality that the Steelers could have converted a large piece of the $12.625 million base salary to a guaranteed payment, easily carving millions off this year’s cap number, if he’s on the team. In other words, the cap number likely would have ended up being much lower than $22.165 million under normal circumstances.7. The team’s leverage. If the Steelers decide to keep Brown but Brown wants out, the Steelers will have a tough decision to make. Keeping him against his wishes could result in Brown holding out or, quite possibly, holding in.In other words, he could show up for all mandatory activities and do the bare minimum JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey White , with the least amount of engagement and enthusiasm possible, avoiding a fine or a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.Of course, the Steelers could play hardball, ending years of apathy regarding Brown’s antics by pushing him hard, coaching him aggressively, and punishing him whenever he crosses the line. That could set him off, culminating in a T.O.-style four-game suspension and then, if the behavior continues, another one.It therefore would be better for the Steelers if Brown just stayed away, but it’s unlikely he’d do it. There’s too much unpaid money to lose and too much unearned money he’d have to pay back if he stopped showing up.Still, the situation has reached a point at which the team must make a decision as to whether Brown will be a part of it, and it needs to be a decision that takes into account all options and permutations and the consequences, intended and possibly unintended from whatever they do. Brown has decisions to make, too.Perhaps, in the end, the best move could be for the team to cut the cord, bite the $21.12 million cap bullet, get what they can for Brown, and wash their hands of him for good.

In some ways I think he lacks pure cover skills but I wonder how much of that is from lack of natural feel vs. missed learning opportunities in school. Figuring that out will play a huge role in his development. He also needs some reps on the jug machine because he honestly did not show very well playing the ball in coverage or creating turnovers with that ability. If Harris lasts till day 3 of the draft I have to think the Redskins will be at least taking a look even with the current depth at the position. ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Case Keenum is on the move again. The Denver Broncos have agreed to trade the veteran quarterback to the Washington Redskins Dwayne Haskins Redskins Jersey , a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Thursday. The teams will also swap 2020 draft picks, with Denver receiving a sixth-rounder and Washington a seventh-rounder, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal cannot be announced until next week.Keenum’s contract will be reworked with the Broncos and Redskins each picking up half of the $7 million he was guaranteed in 2019.The Broncos decided to move on from Keenum last month when they agreed to acquire Super Bowl-winning veteran Joe Flacco from the Baltimore Ravens. Like the Keenum trade, the Flacco trade cannot become official until the start of the league year .March 13.For the second consecutive offseason, the Redskins opted to trade for a quarterback. Keenum enters the equation to try to replace 2018 addition Alex Smith , who broke his right tibia and fibula in November and is expected to miss the entire 2019 season.Keenum will likely compete with longtime Redskins backup Colt McCoy to be their Week 1 starter. The 31-year-old joins his fifth NFL team after stints with the Texans, Rams, Vikings and Broncos.A year ago, Keenum was coming off a career year in Minnesota, where he went 11-3 and led the Vikings to the NFC championship game. That made him a hot commodity in free agency, second only to Kirk Cousins among available quarterbacks. After the Vikings signed Cousins, Keenum signed a two-year, $36 million deal with Denver that included $25 million in guarantees.Broncos general manager John Elway hoped he’d finally found a worthy successor to Peyton Manning after failures by Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch. But Keenum also found it difficult to thrive in the quarterback-crazed city where both Elway and Manning continue to cast long shadows. The Broncos went 6-10 last season, leading Elway to fire coach Vance Joseph and hire Vic Fangio. After his career year in Minneapolis https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-dwayne-haskins-jersey , Keenum threw for 18 touchdowns and a career-high 15 interceptions in 2018.Elway said at the NFL combine that he’d prefer for Keenum to rework his deal and stay in Denver as the backup, but he left it up to Keenum, saying he’d honor a release request or would try to trade him if a suitable partner emerged.Keenum got off to a slow start last year, throwing interceptions in Denver’s first eight games. Preaching patience became a weekly mantra of his with Keenum expressing confidence he and his new teammates and coaches would eventually adjust to each other in time to make a late-season run.By December the Broncos weren’t rolling but staggering, bedeviled by an injury epidemic that had waylaid three O-line starters and the team’s top two tight ends. On Dec. 5, Emmanuel Sanders, who rose to No. 1 receiving threat when Demaryius Thomas was traded to Houston, tore an Achilles at practice. The Broncos lost their final four games, finishing 6-10 for their first back-to-back losing seasons since the Nixon Administration. That led Elway to fire Vance Joseph and replace him with Vic Fangio. Keenum wasn’t among the players who attended Fangio’s introductory news conference because he was on vacation out of the country. As he cleaned out his locker after the final game, Keenum said, “I learned a lot this year. I learned what it is to be a franchise quarterback.”But Elway would soon move on to his fifth starting QB since Manning retired a month after winning the Super Bowl three years ago.Even before the deal with Washington came together, Keenum seemed to indicate he would be moving on, telling the Sports Spectrum Podcast, “My time with the Broncos has been really special. I have enjoyed every second of it. I have absolutely been so proud to wake up every day and to walk into that building to represent the Broncos as their quarterback. … It was an honor.”
Brett Rypien Phillip Lindsay Jersey White , Malik Reed, and 5 others have become Broncos" Denver Broncos NewsDenver Broncos 2019 DraftBroncos sign 7 College Free AgentsNew,97commentsBrett Rypien, Malik Reed, and 5 others have become BroncosMDTAfter a few days of uncertainty, it looks like Brett Rypien will stay in orange and blue. Here is the complete list of players the Broncos have signed, per 9 News Mike Klis. Brett Rypien played for the Boise State Broncos and threw for 13,578 yards and 90 touchdowns during his career. I had him ranked as my QB4 on my pre-draft QB Big Board. Malik Reed is an edge rusher from Nevada who finished his career with 22 sacks, 38.5 tackles for loss and 11 forced fumbles. He will compete for playing time behind Von Miller and Bradley Chubb. George Aston played four seasons at Pitt and will compete with Andy Janovich for time at fullback. Janovich’s contract expires after the 2020 season.Ryan Crozier comes from the UConn where he played Center in 2018. His head coach spoke highly of him to the New Haven Register. Alijah Holder comes to Denver from John Elway’s Alma mater. The Stanford cornerback stands 6’1 191 lbs and should be an appealing developmental prospect for the Fangio defense that utilizes a lot of Cover 3.Kelvin McKnight played wide receiver for Samford and will likely compete for reps as a kick and punt returner. Josh Watson won’t have to travel far to the NFL. The Colorado State linebacker finished his career with 365 tackles, including 25 for loss. ATLANTA (AP) — For towering tight end Tony Gonzalez, this was a slam dunk. The 6-foot-5 Gonzalez, who turned the celebratory post-TD dunk over the crossbar into an art form, was voted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday.Joining him will be two more first-time nominees, Champ Bailey and Ed Reed, along with another defensive back, Ty Law, and center Kevin Mawae; Law and Mawae were both in their third year as finalists. The contributor nominees, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and Cowboys and NFL executive Gil Brandt , each made it, as did senior Johnny Robinson, the defensive back who helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl 4.Gonzalez started in Kansas City and finished in Atlanta, where voters met on the eve of the Super Bowl to select the Class of 2019; they didn’t need much time to debate his worthiness. In short, Gonzalez had more than his fair share of chances to jam. (Maybe not by accident, the NFL banned the practice in 2014, the year after he retired.)The most prolific pass catcher at his position over a 17-year career, Gonzalez caught 1,325 passes (second in NFL history) for 15,127 yards (sixth) and 111 touchdowns. He was a six-time All-Pro, made 14 Pro Bowls, and his 916 catches with the Chiefs set one of 22 franchise records he held upon his retirement.“I knew I had a good chance Womens Phillip Lindsay Jersey , I’m not going to lie about that,” he said. “Still, when you hear the knock, your heart drops.”As it turns out, Gonzalez isn’t the only one who can get good air.“Threw my phone across the room,” Mawae said, of his reaction upon learning he was in. “I had a higher vertical than at the combine.”He’ll be donning the yellow jacket this summer alongside Gonzalez, and three players who spent part of their careers trying to stop the groundbreaking tight end. This marks the first time more than two defensive backs have made it in the same class.Bailey played 15 years — five with Washington, then 10 more with Denver after the Redskins swapped him for Clinton Portis. Like so many great cornerbacks, Bailey did not rewrite the record book, in part because he was, for a huge chunk of his career, considered the best cover guy in the league. So most quarterbacks simply avoided him.Still, he made three All-Pro teams, 12 Pro Bowls and a none-too-shabby 52 interceptions. His best-remembered pick was a 103-yard return against Tom Brady in the 2006 playoffs that did not go for a touchdown. Denver did score shortly afterward, though, on the way to the win. Eight years later, Bailey made his only Super Bowl.“This is home and timing was just right for it,” said Bailey, who grew up in Folkston and played college ball at Georgia. “Having Pat Bowlen go in, I never expected it to be like this.”Reed won his only title in the 2012 season, his last with the Ravens. Running the defense from his safety position, he was a standout playmaker on a roster full of them — including Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs and Peter Boulware. Reed finished his career with 64 interceptions, and led the league in picks three times.“Smartest player I ever coached,” said Reed’s former coach, Brian Billick.Law was a lot like Bailey — a rock at the corner who quarterbacks avoided. He finished with 53 interceptions and three Super Bowl rings, all with the Patriots. When New England beat the Rams for its first title in 2002, Law returned a pick 47 yards for a score that gave the Patriots the lead in the second quarter; they didn’t trail after that.Law was one of the many high-profile players Bill Belichick was willing to cycle out, and his final five years were spent with Kansas City John Elway Jersey White , Denver and two stints with the Jets, including 2005, when he made a career-high 10 interceptions.“It’s surreal to get this honor while my former team is playing,” said Law, who will be on hand when the Patriots play the Rams for the title Sunday.Mawae, a second-round draft pick in 1994, played 16 seasons for the Seahawks, Jets and Titans. He made three All-Pro teams and joins Mike Webster, Dwight Stevenson and Jim Otto among the few true centers in Canton. He earned a spot some thought might go instead to Jaguars left tackle Tony Boselli. But for Boselli, Edgerrin James, John Lynch, Richard Seymour and six others, it’s wait ’til next year.Bowlen goes in after what some believe was a longer-than-necessary wait. He is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, which has put the future of the Broncos’ franchise on uncertain ground. His youngest daughter, Annabel, said they face-timed their dad when the family received the news.“A lot of tears in the room,” she said.Bowlen was key in securing the NFL’s future via a number of multibillion-dollar TV contracts. The Broncos have largely prospered during his tenure, winning more than 60 percent of their games. That included the 1998 Super Bowl, when the owner famously shouted “This one’s for John” — a tribute to John Elway winning his first title.Brandt spent 29 years with the Cowboys, where his keen eye for talent helped turn Dallas into “America’s Team.” He chose eight future Hall of Famers, including Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, Bob Lilly and Bob Hayes.and came up with psychological tests for draft prospects, two tools no NFL team could do without in the modern game.Brandt also was elected for his role as the NFL’s resident draft guru.Robinson was chosen by the Dallas Texans in the first AFL draft. The Texans became the Chiefs, and the Chiefs became Super Bowl champions. A teammate of his, Hall of Fame linebacker Willie Lanier, said Robinson was the key to a defense that helped Kansas City to two AFL titles, each of which landed the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.FOX Fantasy AutoForm a Racing Team, Compete for PrizesPlay Now!

Even with the drafting of Josh Jacobs in the first..."Wednesday morning, we got the terrible news that Isaiah Crowell has been lost for the season to a torn Achilles he suffered in offseason workouts. Even with the drafting of Josh Jacobs in the first round of the draft last week, the Raiders still had big plans for Crowell as a complement to Jacobs. Crowell has 51 career starts in five NFL seasons and only became available as a free agent because the Jets landed Le’Veon Bell, so he was a good get for the Raiders. Now they must replace him. No matter how you feel about Jalen Richard or Chris Warren III or even DeAndre Washington, the Raiders need to bring in proven talent at the position. There are a few options to do that. Here are the top ones.Marshawn Lynch (33)I don’t care that he’s 33 or that there were reports that he could be retiring. Until we hear it from Beastmode himself, it’s not real. Even his mom said as much. The Raiders continued to say they were leaving the door open for Marshawn to return and that it depended on how the draft went. So, for a few days there it was settled. The Crowell injury could change things. Marshawn averaged 4.6 yards per carry last season, showing no signs of slowing down right up until his groin injury in week six that ended his season.Jay Ajayi (25)A torn ACL ended Ajayi’s season in 2018 and it could be the reason why he is still unsigned. If he wasn’t back to full strength when free agency hit in March, he would wait until he was before exploring teams to sign with. Teams move to fill their roster spots in free agency and the draft, and suddenly there are no chairs left when the music stops. It’s now been 8 months since his injury and with this opportunity opening up, it could be the right time and place for him.The 25-year-old is a proven NFL back. His 2016-17 seasons were exactly what you want from a back. The Eagles traded for him midway through the 2017 season and in seven games, he ran for 408 yards, averaging 5.8 yards per carry and he added 217 yards on 58 rushes in the playoffs as the Eagles went on to win the Super Bowl. The previous season with the Dolphins, Ajayi ran for 1272 yards and 8 touchdowns to make the Pro Bowl. Four NFL seasons Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , a Pro Bowl, a Super Bowl ring, and still just 25 years old? Hello.Doug Martin (30)You could certainly do worse than inviting the Douggernaut back. When Marshawn went down last season, Martin stepped in and ran well, averaging 4.6 yards per carry, and proving he was a better back than his previous two seasons in Tampa would indicate. He carries the added bonus of being familiar with the Raiders’ offense, so he could step right in without missing a beat. Having him out there waiting to be signed is a nice luxury at this point for the Raiders.Alex Collins (24)Collins was a 5th round pick by the Seahawks in 2016 to run in Tom Cable’s zone blocking scheme. After one season in Seattle, he would be cut just prior to the start of his second season. The Ravens signed him to their practice squad, called him up to the active roster for the second game of the season and Collins ran for nearly 1000 yards (973) while averaging 4.6 yards per carry. His numbers dipped last season to 3.6 yards per carry, but in ten starts he had 7 touchdowns and 411 yards rushing before landing on injured reserve with a foot injury. He was waived on March 1 and remains unsigned.Bilal Powell (30)Powell was lost in week seven of last season with a neck injury. Initially it was deemed potentially career-ending, but those assumptions were quickly walked back after more testing. Ultimately, the diagnosis was a bulging disc with a timetable of 6-9 months. We are at 7 months now. The 5-10, 204-pound back has been a mainstay with the Jets over the past eight years since they made him their pick in the 4th round of the 2011 draft. He has averaged 4.4 yards per carry over his career and 4.7 yards per carry over the past five seasons. They may have had him back if not for the injury uncertainty and the signing of Le’Veon Bell. Others: LeGarrette Blount, Corey Grant Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , Fozzy Whitacker, Alfred Morris, Stevan RidleyUPDATE: Not ten minutes after this posting the Raiders signed back Doug Martin Like it or not, Richie Incognito is now a member of the Silver and Black. Raiders NewsWatch: Mike Mayock talks Richie Incognito’s ‘incentive based, prove it’ deal, possible looming suspensionNew,78commentsPDTLike it or not, Richie Incognito is now a member of the Silver and Black. It’s an out of sorts move by Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden to bring someone in with the type of red flag character issues that Incognito brings but here we are anyway. The Oakland Raiders GM is not blind to the flaws that Incognito has in his past. However, Mike Mayock felt comfortable taking this shot on signing the former Pro Bowl offensive linemen after doing his research by contacting various former coaches of Richie Incognito’s and crafting a one year incentive based deal to prove he can excel for the Raiders on and off the field.Mayock spoke on the signing with the media attending the Organized Team Activity practices, including Silver & Black Pride’s own Levi Damien.and comfortable with his decision to sign Incognito, even if not all of the fan base feels the same way. It does make it very interesting now to see if the NFL does step forward with discipline for Incognito after he was arrested at a funeral home last August. There is definitely one thing made clear about this signing as well though, the Raiders have a lot of faith in their character driven locker room to be able to handle the presence of a guy with the past like Richie Incognito has.
With the 2018 season over in disappointment James Conner Jersey White , the Steelers are sitting at home and are left to wonder what could have been. With an epic second half of the season collapse, the Steelers missed the playoffs and the drama that has pervaded throughout the locker room has been nothing short of toxic. It very well may cause them to move on from key elements of their super bowl hopes, and with it, this team fades further from their goal of a super bowl. With Ben Roethlisberger nearing the end of his career, how can they maximize their window? Here it is, a full offseason plan. Re-signing PhaseThere are lots of tough decisions here of who to let go and who to actually keep, so this was probably my toughest section to do, honestly.RB Le’Veon BellI just don’t know how you can bring him back at this point unless it is on some type of super discounted deal. Bell will test the market and get paid far outside of what the Steelers would want to pay him overall. He is as good as gone.OG Ramon FosterIf he can be got at a reasonable price, I still believe Foster is more than worth it to bring back. Foster is one of the better guards in the NFL and still keeps the core in tact together. His locker room presence alone is a big reason to keep him around.OL Matt FeilerFeiler was a rock star as he filled in for Marcus GIlbert and likely earned a multi-year extension by doing so. He can play inside or at RT, but regardless, he is incredibly valuable as depth. OL BJ FinneyFinney is the heir to the Ramon Foster throne, and if he does happen to leave, Finney would be a fantastic replacement. He is straight up solid and would start for most teams in this league. Re-sign, obviously. LS Kameron CanadayCanaday was solid, and his name was never said, bring him back. DL L.T. WaltonWalton didn’t get a hat for most of the season, and it is really murky as to what his role on this team is at this point. When he did play, he did nothing of note, so there is little to no incentive to bring him back. ILB L.J. FortFort was a key cog on the defense this year and deserves a multi-year extension. So, he should be extended, as he proved to be the best ILB on this team as the season progressed. With Fort giving the Steelers more security in the middle of the field, it should be a premium to keep him.DL Tyson AlualuThe Steelers will need defensive lineman depth, and will likely have to address it through the draft, but Alualu is a great depth piece and spot starter. This is a pretty easy bring back. P Jordan BerryHe is extremely mediocre, but got better towards the end of the year. Bring in competition and let him compete. OLB Anthony ChickilloIncredibly meh and nothing special, but the Steelers are so needy at OLB depth wise that Chickillo almost has to be brought back. I wouldn’t bring him back otherwise, but it is certainly somewhat essential to bring him back.CB Coty SensabaughSensabaugh was a fantastic fill-in after the woes of CB2 in the early season with the collapse of Artie Burns, and he should be brought back as a fantastic depth piece. Sensabaugh graded out incredibly well for PFF Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , and is a valuable piece to have there. S Nat BerheHe is coming off of a torn pectoral and is nothing more than a special teams guy, there is no reason to bring him back here. TE Xavier GrimbleA solid 3rd TE who needs to learn how to carry a football, but regardless, he is a really, really good blocker and that is extremely desirable as a third TE.TE Jesse JamesThe obvious answer to bring back the Outlaw. He is the peak of solid and can catch and block extremely well. The question is did he price himself out of Pittsburgh? I would bring him back at the right price, but I am not overpaying.CB Mike HiltonHilton is probably priority #1 in the offseason. With this team being bare at CB outside of him and Joe Haden, Hilton getting an extension is a natural step. He didn’t have a great end to the season, but he has more than earned that extension. WR Justin HunterComing off of a season-ending injury and I just do not see the reason to bring him back. He is mediocre at best and this is a deep WR draft. He can be replaced. WR Eli RogersRogers was fantastic in the limited games he played this year, and the Steelers, if they have the opportunity, should keep him in Pittsburgh as well. He adds another weapon to the dynamic offense and really opened up the playbook.OLB Keion AdamsAdams is still developing and a solid depth guy, he should be brought back to see what he can be in Year 3.RB Stevan RidleyFumbleitis alert, Ridley is nothing special and honestly was meh most of the year. If it was up to me, he wouldn’t be back.ILB Ryan ShazierNo idea here. But his locker room presence and positive influence is enough for me. Bring him back.WR Derrius Heyward-BeyGreat veteran presence, but honestly, kinda useless otherwise. He was not even that good of a gunner this year. I would let him walk, but if he wants to be a coach, he can come right on aboard. Other Contracts and MovesSean DavisDavis has straight up earned this extension, man. He had a few lackadaisical plays, but with another offseason at single-high under his belt, I anticipate that Davis will begin to really come into his own and become even more of a contributor, especially with ball skills starting to show up more. Javon HargraveHargrave finally broke out this year and when he saw snaps, he made more than the most of them. Hargrave is naturally a 4-3 3 technique, but he has embraced his role and has begun to get 5 technique reps and has wrecked the line with them. He is integral on the line and is a great player to have going forward. Get him an extension.Morgan Burnett and Jon BosticThese two guys were brought in but, honestly, as the rest of the plan unfolds, they just do not have a place on the team. Releasing them would give us some much needed cap space, and thus Jerome Bettis Jersey , they are natural moves.Ben RoethlisbergerNegotiations are already underway with Big Ben to come back for beyond 2019, and we will take that into account as well. Roethlisberger’s extension would free up some more cap space as well.Trade Antonio BrownI can’t believe I have to type this out, but we have to do this. So, the Steelers trade him to the 49ers for the 49ers’ 2nd, 4th, and a future 4th. This is a realistic looking deal, as there is no way the 2nd overall is actually in play, but in a deep class, this is a super nice haul.Bud DupreeRescind the 5th year option and re-negotiate to a cheaper deal. Free AgencyThe Steelers, facing a closing window, should theoretically take a bit more of a proactive approach here in free agency, just for logic sake.Sign ILB Jordan HicksYou wanted a big play, well, here it is. Hicks has unfortunately dealt with some injuries, but he is an elite talent at ILB and likely won’t command all that much because of his injuries. Hicks is that low key type of signing the Steelers will make. This has high upside and low risk, so it is a natural fit.Sign IDL Henry AndersonThe Jets did not use Anderson all that much this season, but he logged an impressive 48 pressures out of that defense. He is an underrated player and will not command all that much money and can be an excellent player on that interior line, and it frees up a draft pick, too.Sign CB Pierre DesirDesir broke out finally in 2018 and was used heavily in the cover 2 and press man heavy scheme of Indianapolis, which meshes about as well as you could wish for it to do in Pittsburgh. This is a fantastic signing either as a starter or a great depth piece.Sign RB Mike DavisThis move is so underappreciated, but just go check out a short highlight film of Davis’ from this season and you will see an underrated back who can be an excellent rotational piece and do it all. Davis is a huge upgrade from Ridley and creates a great trio of RBs. The DraftA whole 7-Round mock draft that is streamlined with the AB picks. Let’s go.Round 1: CB Byron Murphy, WashingtonThe Steelers get a scheme versatile player and probably the best CB in the draft. Murphy, Desir, and Hilton create a great trio of future CBs after Joe Haden is gone, but for now, they are a lethal core of CBs that any team would die to have. Murphy has physicality and ball skills, and likely starts from Day 1.Round 2 (SF): WR Deebo Samuel, South CarolinaThe best player in Mobile becomes a Steeler. Samuel has legitimate pro bowl potential and would take all the pressure you could ever want off of JuJu Smith-Schuster. As a dynamic receiver James Conner Jersey , Samuel would be a big play machine. And this is highly beneficial to James Washington.Round 2: EDGE Christian Miller, AlabamaThe Steelers can focus on getting a pass rusher and dealing with some depth there with ILB more shored up than before. Miller has an incredible ceiling but is still polished enough to start from Day 1. He likely won’t, but by midseason, Bud Dupree should see the bench.Round 3: ILB Terrill Hanks, New Mexico StateVince Williams is great, but his deal is not too friendly and he likely will be a cap causality shortly. L.J. Fort is already 29 and could be on the decline anytime for all we know. Hanks is a young, athletic former safety that has insane coverage skills and speed for the ILB position. He can develop for a few years and make a lethal duo with Hicks down the line.Round 4 (SF): TE Keenan Brown, Texas StateWe assume here that Jesse James simply gets outpriced and we cannot retain him. Even if we are able to keep him, Brown is a dual-threat TE that can move and block really well. He is TE2 now with future TE1 potential. If Vance McDonald ever gets hurt, Brown can fill in extremely well.Round 4: S Malik Gant, MarshallGant can play anywhere a DB could want to play but outside CB. He is technically raw, but he has more than enough instincts to be a dimebacker from Day 1, and as he fills his frame out into Year 2, he can become a legit do it all Box safety or even a fluid single-high.Round 5: WR Penny Hart, Georgia StateWhat is the issue with fully filling out this WR room? Hart is a little stick of dynamite that could make the roster due to his ability to play slot and contribute. He is an ideal 6th WR as he can take over for DHB’s gunner abilities too, as he was that at Georgia State. In the future, he can become more than just that. Round 6: IOL Hjalte Froholdt, ArkansasMike Munchak might be gone, but Shaun Sarrett is still here! So, we give him a chance to really develop the interior of this line with a project in Froholdt. If he sits for a few years, Froholdt can become a pro bowl level OG if he pans out completely. He is a high-upside pick all day.Round 7: P Tyler Newsome, Notre DameYou know this is such a Steelers move, it just might happen. With just about every other position filled out, the Steelers draft Jordan Berry’s replacement, because Newsome is a stud. PITTSBURGH (AP) — It’s been an uneven rookie season for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington, but he may be needed for a bigger role nonetheless.JuJu Smith-Schuster, Pittsburgh’s leading receiver, is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at New Orleans https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey , and if he can’t play, the Steelers expect Washington to help fill the void.Smith-Schuster, who has 95 receptions for 1,274 yards, left Thursday’s practice with a groin injury. He did not practice Friday and did not speak with reporters. Antonio Brown, second on the Steelers with 90 catches for 1,112 yards and a team-best 13 touchdowns, was optimistic about Smith-Schuster’s availability.“I think he’ll be there for us,” Brown said.Meanwhile, Washington will look to continue his recent upswing.Pittsburgh picked Washington in the second round of the draft with the hopes that the former Oklahoma State star could take over as the team’s primary deep threat for Martavis Bryant. However, Washington struggled through most of the season.Washington had just five catches for 49 yards and a touchdown during the first four weeks. He only had eight receptions for 77 yards and a score through 11 weeks and was called out by Ben Roethlisberger for a drop at Denver in Week 12.Washington was inactive at home the following week against the Los Angeles Chargers. It was the second time in six weeks Washington was a healthy scratch, but he has since rebounded.“You can’t come in here and seek comfort,” Washington said. “You have to keep working each and every day and things will get better.”And it has for Washington. The rookie earned praise from Roethlisberger after he established career highs with three receptions and 65 yards in last Sunday’s win over the New England Patriots.“He just needs confidence in himself because I have confidence in him,” Roethlisberger said. “I wouldn’t throw him the ball if I didn’t believe in him, so it looks like his confidence is coming back, which is important.”Washington’s confidence was most evident during a leaping 32-yard grab in single coverage ahead of Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty. Washington also broke free for a 24-yard catch-and-run later in the drive.“It was a lot of excitement just because it was a big catch and it’s something that everybody’s going to look back on and remember,” Washington said. “You just gotta keep moving forward and making plays. You can’t dwell in the past.”Offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner expects more of the same from Washington down the stretch.“Now, you get a little taste of it and you can even see the excitement in his eyes,” Fichtner said. “Some of that confidence goes, too, with your quarterback. You make a couple plays like that and now all of a sudden it warrants more opportunity, because that catch he made on the sideline was not an easy grab.”comfortable in the Steelers’ offense and he was happy to contribute to the win over New England. He doesn’t expect a drop-off if he has to fill in for Smith-Schuster against the Saints.“Nothing changes,” Washington said. “Like they always tell us, you have to learn how to play every position. It’s not just one position. You have to learn every position and the concepts.”NOTES: Pro Bowl RB James Conner will miss his third straight game with an ankle injury sustained Dec. 2 against the Chargers. Rookie RB Jaylen Samuels rushed 19 times for 142 yards, while also hauling in two passes for 30 yards, against New England.
Washington has lost its second quarterback in three games to a broken lower leg. Colt McCoy replaced Alex Smith Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , who needed surgery to repair a compound fracture to his right leg. On Monday night, Washington lost McCoy to a fractured right fibula, Lisa Salters of ESPN reported from the sideline.Coach Jay Gruden told Salters it was “heartbreaking” and “devastating.” It leaves Washington’s playoff life in the hands of veteran Mark Sanchez.Sanchez signed two weeks ago after Washington put Smith on injured reserve. The team obviously will have to sign another quarterback as Sanchez’s backup moving forward.Tight end Jordan Reed is the emergency quarterback tonight.McCoy replaced Smith against Houston and nearly won the game. Against Dallas on Thanksgiving Day, McCoy lost his first start since 2014. Sanchez completed 6 of 10 passes for 62 yards in the first half, leading Washington to 10 points.Washington also has lost offensive guard Jonathan Cooper Dwayne Haskins Jersey , who was downgraded to out with an arm injury. That’s another position the team has been hard hit, with Tony Bergstrom limping off early in the third quarter.Washington’s starting offensive guards, Brandon Scherff and Shawn Lauvao, already are on injured reserve. Adrian Peterson authored one of the seven 2,000-yard seasons in NFL history when he was 27 years old and checking that box hasn’t taken it off his list of goals now that he’s 34.Peterson told Peter King last year that he believed he was capable of another 2 Wes Martin Jersey ,000-yard campaign and he isn’t setting his sights any lower as he gets ready for the 2019 season. The Washington running back told Tom Pelissero of NFL Media that “you have to set the bar high” to do big things and that’s just what he’s doing after running for 1,042 yards last season.“I got my mark set at 2,000, I’ve always had it at that mark since I stepped into the league,” Peterson said. “So that’s where it’s at. But most importantly Womens Bryce Love Jersey , I just want to contribute to the team and help this team win a championship.” and no other Washington back topped 43 carries, but there’s expected to be more shuffling in the backfield this season. Derrius Guice is expected back from last year’s torn ACL and Chris Thompson will be hoping for better health after missing six games last season.Having all three backs healthy and productive wouldn’t help Peterson’s bid to become the first to cross 2,000 yards twice, but it would probably work out well for the Washington offense as a whole.
The Broncos have pulled it off. And Washington has pulled it off. And Case Keenum has pulled it off.Thursday’s needle-threading trade solved a problem for all three parties John Elway Jersey , putting each in a better position than they would have occupied but for the trade.Denver dumped Keenum’s $18 million base salary and, more importantly, reduced its 2019 obligation to Keenum from $7 million to $4 million. The Broncos also picked up a sixth-round pick in 2020 from Washington for a seventh-round pick in 2020.Washington obtained a viable contender for the team’s starting quarterback job for only $3.5 million, with relatively minor draft-pick compensation. Now, Keenum can compete with Colt McCoy, and the better man will win the job. Washington also won’t have to use a high-round draft pick on a quarterback, or trade for Josh Rosen.Keenum ends up with $500,000 more than he would have gotten if he’d been cut by Denver, given that he wouldn’t have gotten $7 million the open market. He’ll instead get $7.5 million, and he’s landing in one of the only spots where he has a reasonable chance to win the starting job.And even though Keenum struggled last year in Denver, he had a great 2017 season in Minnesota. Keenum has a knack for escaping the pocket, moving laterally, buying time, and eventually finding wide-open receivers. In a favorable offense like the one that Jay Gruden runs, Keenum could be better than most expect. Speaking of 2020, there are a whole lot of quarterbacks scheduled to hit free agency and bringing in the excellent class of quarterbacks currently aiming at declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft.:That is 21 starting caliber quarterbacks scheduled to be available in 2020, that says nothing of the quarterbacks who will remain with their squads in ‘20, like: Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Patrick Mahomes, Jimmy Garoppolo, Deshaun Watson, Kirk Cousins, Cam Newton, Matthew Stafford, Nick Foles, Mitch Trubisky, or Andrew Luck. The five teams who drafted starting quarterbacks in 2018: Cleveland Browns (Baker Mayfield), New York Jets (Sam Darnold) Joe Flacco Jersey White , Buffalo Bills (Josh Allen), Arizona Cardinals (Josh Rosen), and Baltimore Ravens (Lamar Jackson) will also not need starting quarterback in 2020. Then there are the teams who draft Kyle Murray, Dwayne Haskins, Drew Lock, and Daniel Jones... That’s 22 teams with starting quarterbacks in 2020 and currently 21 available starting quarterbacks scheduled to be available on the open market in 2020. There are 32 NFL teams for those of you keeping track at home. The year 2020, at present, has an NFL surplus of starting quarterbacks by at least 13 next season. Those chances are much more significant than the 2019 chance of one of the four: Haskins, Murray, Lock, or Jones turning into a career starter.drafting a quarterback in 2019. Those making an argument for drafting a quarterback in the first round this season have simply not looked at the numbers. It is also, perhaps, why draftniks continue to push Missouri quarterback Drew Lock to the Denver Broncos in mock drafts... They haven’t looked at the numbers or they expect John Elway and Co. to do what they have done consistently. So, let’s talk quarterbacks. Get in where you fit in, because study long, study wrong!
